21 years ago, in the mid 90's, we were brought a film that told us to "Damn the Man, Save the Empire!" Ethan Embry, Anthony LaPaglia, Liv Tyler, Renee Zellweger? They were names that basically had their careers launched by this film, about a day in the life of an indie record store...Yes kids, those giant things that looked like CDs, they were sold then. I'm still not sure of everything going on - the film was somewhat disjointed, but I can understand its cult status because of the music, the bands (Dishwalla, Gwar, and more) were the hidden gems of this film. Listen to Mike and I as we discuss an old school film from our generation that covers dying or dead stores, like Tower Records, Warehouse, Sam Goody, and more. Listen as we talk about the 1995 film, Empire Records.
